Employment rights of seasonal workers
Certain industries are subject to seasonal fluctuations in business, in retail and hospitality for example, the summer months and Christmas period are often busier trading periods than other times of the year. Opportunities to work for a seasonal operation are also frequently found in horticulture or agriculture as well as tourism and construction.
Statutory paid sick leave will increase to 5 days from 1 January 2024
On 17 November, Minister of State for Business, Employment and Retail, Neale Richmond TD announced that entitlement to paid sick leave will increase from 3 to 5 days next year. This is in line with the government commitment to gradually increase the entitlement until 2026, when it will reach 10 days.

Insights to the Future of Work in the Financial Services Sector
The financial services sector in Ireland is a powerhouse for growth, underpinning and enabling all sectors of Ireland’s economy. The sector contributes almost a one quarter of Ireland’s total 2019 corporate tax income. Ireland services over €5.2 trillion worth of assets under administration. 11 of the top 15 insurance companies have a presence in Ireland, 17 of the top 20 global banks are based here and 14 of the top 15 global aircraft lessors operate from Ireland.

Implementing the Public Sector Equality and Human Rights Duty - what you need to know
All public bodies in Ireland have responsibility to promote equality, prevent discrimination and protect the human rights of their employees, customers, service users and everyone affected by their policies and plans. This rate, scheduled to conclude on August 31st, has played a vital role in sustaining businesses and preserving a significant number of the more than 300,000 jobs in the experience economy nationwide.
