An apprenticeship is a programme of structured education and training, which formally combines work place learning with learning in an education or training centre. 

The national QQI award for the successful completion of the laboratory apprenticeship programmes is issued by the coordinating provider, TU Dublin, South East Technological University Waterford and Munster Technological University Cork.

  • The 2 year level 6 laboratory apprentice will receive a Higher Certificate of Science as a Laboratory Technician.
  • The 3 year level 7 laboratory apprentice will receive an Ordinary Bachelor of Science Degree as a Laboratory Analyst.

The laboratory apprenticeship is a collaboration between apprentice, employer, government, tuition provider and the Apprenticeship Council.

The laboratory apprenticeship runs out of Technological University Dublin, Tallaght, South East Technological University, Waterford and Munster Technological University, Cork.

 

The program runs in Tallaght and Waterford and will run in Cork for the first time in September 2022. Other regions will be determined by interest from industry.
