Where we operate
Ibec Europe – the voice of Irish business in Brussels and beyond
Considering the extent to which EU policy and regulation impacts Irish business, Ibec maintains a permanent office and delegation in Brussels as well as a team in Dublin dedicated to trade and international affairs.
Established since 1972, the year before Ireland joined the then European Economic Community, Ibec Europe is the primary representation of the Irish business community to the European Union. As a major stakeholder within the EU political system, we engage with the EU Institutions, the Irish Government, other Member States and the wider European policy community to protect and promote the interests of Irish business and to champion Ireland's business model and economic priorities at EU level.
Ibec has a number of relationships with strategic partners at an EU and international level. We are an active member in BusinessEurope, Europe’s leading voice in business representation as well as the European Services Forum which advocates that trade in services is adequately featured in the EU’s free trade agreements. We enjoy excellent bilateral relationships with business groups across Europe as well as in the USA with key business associations such as the US Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Manufacturers and more.
We offer strategic advice, publish briefings and newsletters, host regular events and organise tailored delegation visits, helping our members to navigate the complexity of EU decision-making and build relationships in Brussels. Our work also supports the EU activities of our 230 colleagues across Ibec's policy units, sectoral trade associations and regional offices in Ireland.
