Transparent and Predictable Working Conditions Directive
The European Union (Transparent and Predictable Working Conditions) Regulations 2022, S.I. 686/2022 (the “Regulations”) were signed into law on 16 December 2022. The Regulations give effect to Directive 2019/1152 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019 on transparent and predictable working conditions in the European Union. The Regulations amend a number of pieces of employment legislation which introduce new obligations for employers and limit the use of certain clauses in contracts of employment. We set out the main changes affecting employers.

Minister Humphreys announces the publication of landmark legislation for the Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings System
The Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys TD, on 5 April announced the publication of the Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings System Bill 2024. The Bill will pave the way for around 800,000 workers to be enrolled into a retirement savings scheme for the first time from January 2025.
CSO’s national estimate of the gender pay data for 2022 shows Gender Pay Gap in Ireland stood at 9.6% last year
According to the findings of the Central Statistics Office's Structure of Earnings Survey 2022, Ireland's Gender Pay Gap stood at 9.6% last year with the average hourly wage for men coming in at 27.73 euro and the average hourly wage for women at 25.06 euro. In economic sectors, the highest GPG was in the financial, insurance and real estate sector with the lowest GPG recorded in the education sector.
