The Ibec Poultry Group represents the interests of the Irish poultry processing industry. The group is comprised of the five largest poultry processors in Ireland.
Our members are part of the fabric of Ireland’s economy, proudly making a significant contribution throughout the supply chain – from agriculture to manufacturing, to packing, through to transport, logistics and retail. The poultry sector is a critical part of the rural economy.

Economic Contribution:

  • The poultry sector (meat and eggs) remains a critical part of the rural economy in many parts of the country, delivering around €700 million in output and supports over 5,000 jobs. Around 800 farms are involved in commercial poultry production in the Republic of Ireland.
  • The industry employs over 5,000 people directly, contributing more that €140 million in wages.
  • In 2022, exports were valued at more than €350 million; €200 million of which is value-added products and €150 million which is primary poultry products.
  • The sector spends €400 million on inputs annually.
  • The sector produces 170,000 tonnes of poultry meat and 900 million eggs annually.
  • The farm-gate value of output of the poultry meat sector has increased by 30% over the 2015 to 2022 period.
  • Poultry meat output can be divided into: 78% chicken, 19% turkey and 3% duck.
