Ibec to host Irelands first-ever Manufacturing Day

July 31, 2025

Opening doors to the future of Irish manufacturing

Ibec is proud to announce that it will host Ireland’s first-ever Manufacturing Day on Friday, 3 October 2025, marking a major new initiative to celebrate and showcase the country’s world-class manufacturing sector.

This nationwide initiative invites companies across Ireland to open their doors to students, educators, and local communities—offering a unique, inside look at the people, technologies, diversity and career opportunities driving the sector.

By breaking down outdated perceptions and sharing real-life stories from across the sector, Manufacturing Day Ireland aims to demonstrate that manufacturing today is not only high-tech and future-focused, but also welcoming, rewarding, and built on a culture of creativity and collaboration.

Championing innovation and talent

Behind every product, supply chain, and breakthrough technology is a skilled team making it happen. Manufacturing Day Ireland celebrates these teams and the wide variety of roles that exist—from robotics and data analytics to sustainability and design.

The campaign is designed to:

  • Inspire future talent by spotlighting diverse, exciting careers across engineering, automation, sustainability, and digital technologies.
  • Challenge outdated perceptions by showing that modern manufacturing is clean, innovative, and inclusive.
  • Promote diversity by highlighting the stories of women and underrepresented voices thriving in the sector.
  • Build strong education partnerships through collaboration with schools, training providers, and community groups.
  • Create real-world connections that give young people a hands-on look at what a career in manufacturing can offer.

Why it matters

Manufacturing is a cornerstone of the Irish economy:

  • Employing over 260,000 people directly and indirectly
  • Driving €140 billion in annual exports
  • Accounting for approximately 35% of Ireland’s GDP

Yet despite its scale and sophistication, manufacturing is still often misunderstood—too often seen through outdated stereotypes. Today’s factories are smart, sustainable, and people-driven—where women and men work side-by-side in roles that demand creativity, problem-solving, and digital fluency.

Manufacturing Day Ireland helps reframe the sector in the minds of students, educators, and parents alike, positioning it as a place where diverse talent is welcomed and needed.
