What to expect: One-to-one consultations with an Ibec ER Executive, short intermittent presentations on the issues of Right to Work and Right to Work Longer as well as an opportunity to network with your HR peers.
Right to Work– review of recent developments
Employing non-EEA nationals in Ireland requires navigating complex rules. Success demands strict adherence to work permit and immigration rules, a challenge sometimes exacerbated by processing delays for both new permissions and vital renewals.
Additionally, as many employees now seek to work remotely from another jurisdiction for several weeks each year, employers must carefully evaluate cross-border complexities as temporary overseas work can trigger foreign right-to-work permit requirements, local income tax and social insurance liabilities, creating compliance risks and unexpected costs for both parties.
Right to Work Longer – what you need to know about changes in retirement law
The Employment (Contractual Retirement Ages) Act 2025 and the revised Code of Practice on Longer Working S.I.246/2026 came into effect on 29 June. The Act creates a new employment right that allows eligible employees to notify their employer that they do not consent to retire at the contractual retirement age where this is lower than the State pension age of 66, and effect the operation of this Act and the revised Code is having on how organisations manage their Longer Working policies, where employees seek to work beyond their contractual retirement age.
As a member, there is no charge to attend this event. As places are limited, however, booking is essential.
