Statutory Sick Leave Bill 2021
The Government published the proposed Sick Leave Bill 2021 which commenced legislative scrutiny on 10 November. The Bill will initially provide for a minimum of three days sick leave per year for all employees but this is expected to eventually increase to ten. It will be paid at 70% of regular earnings up to €110 per day from the first day of illness but this can be varied by ministerial order.

Preparing for NIS2
The NIS2 Directive will apply from 18 October 2024 and introduce cybersecurity risk management and reporting requirements for many organisations in Ireland.

Spending on infrastructure must be prioritised ahead of all other expenditure or tax cuts
Ibec, the group representing Irish business, has today published the first in a series of policy position papers on Ireland’s competitiveness and productivity. In its paper on infrastructure delivery, Ibec is urging the Government to prioritise infrastructure investment above all other forms of public spending or tax reductions in order to address persistent challenges in delivering critical national infrastructure.
