Geo-political tensions, increases in protectionism, and intensifying global competition are creating an uncertain business environment across Europe. Implementing Circular Economy Understanding Circularity and Eco Design for Sustainable Products
The European Commission is proposing new rules to ensure almost all physical goods within the internal market achieve a reduced negative life-cycle environmental impact, encourage circularity in their design and maintain a high-degree of energy-efficiency. These efforts will span from the product's design phase through to daily use, repairing/repurposing and end-of-life arrangements.
The Irish government's Whole of Government Circular Economy Strategy 2022-2023 commits to a policy of significantly increasing the opportunities for circularity within the Irish economy, with an aim to exceed the EU average by 2030.
Ibec will host this webinar, titled 'Implementing Circular Economy: Understanding Circularity and Eco-Design for Sustainable Products' to provide practical information and guidance for members to aid them in understanding the European Circular Economy Action Plan - alongside broader Irish and European perspectives on Circular Economy legislation.

In preparation for the New Year, our Employer Relations teams have been receiving a lot of employment queries in preparation for the increases in both statutory sick pay entitlements and the increase to the National Minimum Wage (NMW) to €12.70 per hour on 1 January 2024. As you may already be aware, Government is further legislating for introduction of pension auto-enrolment towards the end of 2024. Effective from the new year, we will also see new reporting obligations on employers to report to Revenue details of expenses/benefits provided to employees and/or directors. These are just some of a suite of employment related changes anticipated for the new year on top of an already complex employment landscape. We are hosting an ER Open day and drop-in clinics for members who wish to discuss these and other employment issues.
