An Irish Rail inspector has lost his bid to have legal practitioners represent him at a disciplinary hearing. Chief Justice Clarke noted that he could see nothing in the allegation that would put the process beyond the competence of an experienced trade union official.

No breach of Work Life Balance Act when employer required formerly fully remote worker to attend office once a month

In a decision issued on 9 October 2024 (ADJ-00051008), a WRC Adjudicator found that in all respects the respondent employer had met the requirements in the Work Life Balance and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2023 relating to assessing business needs and the employee’s needs and communicating in writing to him about the reason for not approving fully remote working from home.
