WRC compliance notice deemed defective and withdrawn by the Labour Court
The Labour Court recently heard an appeal against the WRC in respect of a compliance notice issued to an employer. The notice related to a perceived breach of section 12 of the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997 and S.I. No. 57 of 1998 in relation to required rest breaks.

A civil servant was recently awarded €3,000 by the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) after claiming that no appropriate breastfeeding facilities were provided to her by her employer upon her return to work following maternity leave. The employee claimed that this along with other issues amounted to discrimination based on her gender under the Employment Equality Act 1998.
