The Employment Equality Acts 1998 to 2015 lay down the fundamental principle of anti-discrimination in the Irish workplace. Since 1998 discrimination has been outlawed on nine grounds and enforcement has been strengthened through the Equality Tribunal.

UD award for fixed term worker whose contract did not include unfair dismissal exclusion clause
Section 2(2)(b) of the Unfair Dismissals Acts provides that the Unfair Dismissals Acts will not apply to a dismissal of a fixed-term employee provided that the fixed-term contract is in writing, is signed by both the employee and the employer and provides that that Unfair Dismissals Acts do not apply to a dismissal consisting “only” of the expiry of the fixed-term or the cesser of the specified purpose as the case may be.
