All the talents -Neurodiversity in Irish financial services

March 13, 2025

Diversity, equity and inclusion is one of FSI’s strategic pillars. Since 2024, FSI has been focussing on neurodiversity to raise awareness among our members and share best practice on accommodations for neurodivergent colleagues. Research from Bank of Ireland has found that just under one-in-five adults who are working believe that their company’s policies and practices support neurodivergent people. Central to overcoming this challenge is creating an environment that enables all staff members, from all walks of life, to thrive and bring their full selves and talents to bear.

FSI has developed this brochure to highlight the efforts being undertaken by members to harness the talents of neurodivergent members of staff, to the benefit of customers, clients, staff and society.

As part of this process, we have spoken to three FSI member companies and three neurodivergent employees about their journeys, policies in place, and the positive lessons learned in properly accommodating neurodivergent employees.

Specialisterne Ireland, an organisation dedicated to highlighting the true value of hiring neurodivergent people and empowering individuals to be more confident and independent, has also shared best practice advice for employers seeking to properly accommodate their neurodivergent employees.

In a sector as diverse as financial services, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. But the case studies outlined here will be of assistance to members as they seek to make continued progress on their talent journey.
