In early 2021 senior representatives from Ibec, Deloitte Ireland, HSBC Ireland, Chartered Accountants Ireland and the Institute of Directors in Ireland formed a working group with the objective of establishing an Irish Chapter of the Climate Governance Initiative, an initiative in collaboration with the World Economic Forum.
In October 2021, Chapter Zero Ireland (‘the Chapter’) was formed as a company limited by guarantee (Company no. 706297).
The Chapter operates under the terms of its constitution. Its key primary purpose is to build a community of non-executive directors and equip them to lead crucial boardroom discussions on the impacts of climate change. The board of directors (‘the Board’) is the highest governance organ of the company. Operational support is provided by a host organisation and a Working Group, appointed by the Board. Patrons and Founders help raise awareness of our work and encourage other non-executive directors to get involved, interacting with members and other stakeholders, and providing feedback to the Board.
A Working Group provides operational support and advice to the Board. Working alongside the host organisation, they assist with strategy implementation, project and event management, marketing, development and implementation of governance protocols, stakeholder relations and other specified tasks that may be delegated by the Board.
