Leveraging 2026 disability support funding to help you provide Reasonable Accommodation in the workplace

March 30, 2026

As announced in Budget 2026, the Wage Subsidy Scheme (WSS) for people with disabilities will increase its hourly rates effective April 2026 to support hiring, with the base rate rising by €1.20 to €7.50. The structure is also simplifying to three tiers: €7.50, €8.50, and €10 per hour based on the percentage of employees with disabilities.

Aside from the WSS, there are office adaptation grants and a number of training, recruitment and other supports available to employers (and employees) which can help employers comply with their obligation under Irish employment equality legislation to place people with disabilities on an equal footing with their able-bodied counterparts in accessing employment.
