Financial Services Ireland appoints Joe Heneghan, Revolut Europe CEO, as Chair

The Board of Financial Services Ireland (FSI), the Ibec group that represents the financial services sector, has appointed Joe Heneghan, Partner and CEO of Revolut Europe, as its new chair.

Speaking on his recent appointment, Joe Heneghan said: “At FSI we are working to ensure Ireland is the best place for financial services companies to achieve success for customers, clients, society and themselves. The financial services sector employs more than 115,000 people in Ireland, and contributes more than €21.7bn to the economy. We believe there is a significant opportunity for Ireland to win more business in the coming years.

“Our highly skilled workforce, which we must continue to increase, makes Ireland an attractive location for financial services firms who want to innovate, grow and tackle societal challenges including the need to finance our efforts to tackle climate change. I would like to thank my predecessor Cecilia Ronan for the excellent contribution she made as FSI chair, and I am proud to be following in her footsteps in this exciting role.”

As well as leading Revolut Europe, which has 19 million customers, Joe Heneghan also leads Revolut Bank which offers banking services to consumers in 28 EEA markets and is also a member of the European Central Bank’s Euro Retail Payments Board. With over 25 years’ experience in financial services, Joe has previously held senior roles at Ulster Bank as well as working with First Active and Permanent TSB.
