2025 Sustainable Business Practices Report

Engineering Industries Ireland is proud to launch our second Sustainable Business Practices Report. Based on data from roughly one third of our membership, the 2025 survey provides an insightful overview of sustainability efforts across the sector. Aligned with the finalised EFRAG VSME standards, the report is benchmarked against our 2024 results and compared where applicable, highlighting advances in environmental, social, and governance practices. It sets a clear baseline for future improvement while showcasing positive initiatives that strengthen sustainability credentials and competitiveness.

The survey evaluated sustainability practices through an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) lens, covering:

  • Environmental: Energy consumption, energy sources, renewable electricity, renewable fuel, renewable technologies, GHG emissions, pollution, water and waste management, biodiversity, circular economy and climate-related risks.
  • Social: Gender pay, workforce, employee training hours, occupational safety & health (OSH), engagement, employee turnover and human rights.
  • Governance: Anti-corruption measures, certifications and accreditations.
