The global energy crisis is now in its eighth week and is placing immense strain on the global economy. Despite the introduction of relief measures here in Ireland, businesses continue to face exceptionally high fuel costs, major supply chain constraints, and wider inflationary pressures. Meanwhile policymakers are navigating how to best respond to a crisis which is showing no clear signs of resolution. At this briefing, members will hear from Fergal O’Brien, Ibec’s Executive Director of Policy and Influence, Conor Minogue, Ibec’s Senior Executive for Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Policy, and Dr. Brian Motherway, Head of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Inclusive Transitions at the International Energy Agency (IEA). They will share their analysis of the crisis, the economic impacts, and policy response.
