Ibec engages with Low Pay Commission in advance of LPCs recommendations to Government next month

In its latest engagement with the Low Pay Commission, Ibec has called for a proportion of the funds from the National Training Fund (NTF) to be used to provide a support scheme for companies which can show challenged viability due to state imposed increases in employment costs and regulation including the rollout of the national living wage.

Subject Access Requests: watchouts and changes

In recent months the European Data Protection Board (the umbrella organisation which brings together the national data protection authorities) adopted a final version of a Guideline on data subject requests - Right of access. Among others, the Guideline provides clarifications on the scope of the right of access, the information the controller has to provide to the data subject, the format of the access request, the main modalities for providing access, and the notion of manifestly unfounded or excessive requests.

Revenue Commissioners offer amnesty to employers affected by Karshan ruling

Revenue have issued guidance on a PAYE settlement arrangement where an employer, acting in good faith, may have misclassified individuals for 2024-2025 as self-employed rather than employees. The scheme follows The Supreme Court ruling in Revenue v Karshan (Midlands) Ltd. clarifying employment status.

Members are advised to engage with their tax advisors for expert guidance.
