As a ‘Right to Disconnect’ moves closer, are there any preparatory steps an employer can take?

On 15 January, the Government published the National Remote Work Strategy that sets out a range of actions and commitments from Government over the course of 2021. These actions include legislating for the right to request remote working and developing a Code of Practice for the right to disconnect.

The new Code of Practice that the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) has been tasked with developing is intended to address a perceived blurring of the boundary between work and home life because of the impact of new technology and ways of working.
