Nurse not permitted to work beyond age 66 awarded 85000 in age discrimination claim

This complaint of discriminatory dismissal was brought under the ground of age contrary to Section 6 of the Employment Equality Acts. The complaint concerned an alleged compulsory retirement of a Senior Staff Nurse by the Respondent Nursing Home.

Restrictions on certain redundancy rights to be removed on 30 September 2021

The Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (Covid-19) Act 2020 suspended the right of employees placed on temporary lay off or short-time for a number of weeks to trigger their own redundancy. The restriction will be removed at the end of this month.
