The European social partners are continuing to negotiate a European framework agreement on telework and right to disconnect. If accepted by the European institutions, it will be implemented by European Directive which member states will be required to transpose into national law.
Tánaiste publishes views on right to request remote work
An important commitment in the Government's National Remote Working Strategy, published earlier this year, is to introduce a new law giving workers the right to request to remote working. The Tánaiste has said that this new legislation will be a priority in the new Dáil term.
Enactment of new law to strengthen whistleblower protection
The Protected Disclosures Amendment Act 2022 has been signed into law. It strengthens the protections afforded by the 2014 Act and extends whistleblowing laws to private sector employers, job applicants and volunteers. Existing whistleblowing policies will also need to be amended.
