Stronger protection for whistleblowers on the way
The recently published General Scheme of Protected Disclosures (Amendment) Bill, when enacted, will transpose the EU Whistleblowing Directive (EU) 2019/1937 into Irish law. It will extend the scope of the existing Irish law to include unpaid trainees, board members, job applicants and shareholders. Firms with 50 or more staff will need whistleblowing channels.
