Who should use it

The Ibec EHS Legislation Hub is relevant to businesses of all sizes and engaged in any activity.

Certain pieces of legislation impose general duties/obligations on all companies. For example, all companies have a duty of care to prevent groundwater pollution resulting from their activities and must comply with the conditions of its relevant trade effluent licence.

Other legislation imposes obligations on particular activities/sectors. For example certain installations are required to have a greenhouse gas emissions permit from the EPA in order to carry out their activities.

It is important for companies to be aware of legislation that may impact directly on their activities. For example, while your company may not be involved in the collection of waste, all companies should be aware of the relevant legislation to ensure only those contractors with the appropriate waste collection permits are used to remove waste from the premises.

The Hub provides a complete list and summary of EHS legislation from which each subscriber can identify those areas that are directly and indirectly relevant to their activities
