Retail Ireland Announces New Chairperson and Vice Chair

Retail Ireland is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Watkins as their new Chairperson. Stephen brings over 27 years of experience in the retail industry, having held senior executive roles at Boots UK, including Director of Pharmacy and Digital Healthcare. Since 2020, he has served as Managing Director of Boots Ireland, where he has led the expansion of patient services, championed Irish health and beauty brands, and introduced a range of innovative changes across the business. Stephen has also served as Deputy Chair of Retail Ireland for the past two years and is currently Chair of the Ibec Economics and Taxation Policy Committee.

We also extend our deepest thanks to Edel Clancy, Director of Corporate Affairs at Musgrave Group, for her outstanding leadership as Chair over the past two years. During her tenure, Retail Ireland has strengthened its position as the leading voice for the sector, championing key issues such as retail competitiveness, workforce skills, and women in leadership.

In addition, we are delighted to welcome Damien Dwyer, CEO of Woodies, as the new Vice Chair of Retail Ireland.

As the retail sector navigates major challenges including rising labour costs, increased retail crime, and fast-changing market dynamics, Stephen’s leadership and strategic insight will be invaluable. We look forward to working together to support our members, drive progress on key priorities, and continue advocating for a vibrant and competitive retail sector across Ireland.
