Supporting SMEs through the tax system

This submission from Ibec to the Department of Finance communicates the views our members on the issues surrounding the taxation of Small and Medium Sized Business (SMEs) in Ireland.  Along with our sector associations, what we have focused much of our work in recent years is reforming the environment to encourage small business and entrepreneurship. Although there have been some tax, regulatory and structural reforms aimed at small business and start-ups in recent years these have not gone far enough, in our view, to bridge the gap to having an indigenous sector on par with elsewhere in Europe.

In this submission, we set out the views of our members on the operation of, and improvements which should be made to, several tax schemes aimed at supporting SMEs including the CGT regime, KEEP, and the EIIS.
