What we do

Over the last number of decades, Ireland has secured its position as a global hub of manufacturing excellence in the biopharmaceutical industry. 

Under this pillar, BPCI members can engage in discussions centred on digitalisation, lean leadership, disruptive technological advances, pharma trends in lab connectivity, and BioPharma Business Services Operations in Ireland. Activities include knowledge sharing, audit findings, benchmarking, peer to peer learning and the facilitation of networking opportunities through industry initiatives, workshops, forums and webinars.  

How to get involved / Our working groups

The operational excellence working group encourages the development, usage, scale-up, monitoring, and evaluation of best practices to drive a lean and continuous improvement culture. The group meets on a quarterly basis.

The BioPharma Business Services (BBS) Steering Group was an ad hoc committee established to drive the development of a BBS Strategy for Biopharma in Ireland. Meetings are a mixture of online and in-person workshops with work being carried out to map the current GBS landscape in Ireland, identify opportunities for growth, and plot an execution roadmap.

Four thematic subgroups worked offline to assess the GBS opportunities and capabilities for industry around the below themes:

  • Discovery, Research & Pre-clinical, and Regulatory & Medical Affairs
  • Development
  • Manufacturing & Supply Chain
  • Commercial (Sales & Marketing)

The Strategy was launched at the BioPharmaChem Impact25 Conference on 8th May at Kilashee House Hotel, Naas, Co. Kildare.
