Ronan has worked in Medtronic for 20 years in New Product Development across a range of Cardiovascular areas, including Coronary, Hypertension, Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure, Peripheral Vascular and Structural Heart products.
Ronan spent 6 years at NUI, Galway, where he completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Engineering Science.
John has worked in IDA for 22 years, joining IDA from its sister agency Enterprise Ireland in 2002. His IDA career started in in IDA’s Engineering Division. From 2006 to 2009 he completed a successful overseas assignment in IDA’s Silicon Valley Office. On his return from Silicon Valley John worked as part of IDA’s Clean Technologies Division. In 2011 John took over as Regional Manager for the North West Region and managed the expanded Border Region (North East and North West) for the period 2015 to 2019. John joined the Medical Technologies Department in February 2021 as East Coast Manager before assuming his current role in October 2023.
John studied Chemistry at Queens University Belfast graduating with an honours degree in 1992. Following that he joined Enterprise Ireland in 1992 initially working as an industrial / analytical chemist providing a range of services to Irish based industry, laterally working in a business advisory role with Enterprise Ireland in the North West region based in Sligo. While working John has returned to study a number of times completing a Masters Degree in Environmental Protection in 1999 from IT Sligo, a Diploma in Business Strategy from the Irish Management Institute in 2003 and a Masters Degree in Management from UCD Smurfit Business School in 2017.
Bridget Clinton is a senior regulatory and commercial lawyer in Arthur Cox’s Regulated Markets Group. Bridget has specialist expertise in advising clients in the life sciences sector on regulatory issues arising throughout the entire product lifecycle, including clinical research and market access, supply chain regulation and licensing, promotional and compliance issues, pricing and reimbursement, post-market obligations, inspections and investigations and transactional / M&A matters. Bridget also advises on the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts across a range of sectors, with a particular focus on intellectual property-based industries.

Jeroen Schuermans leads MedTech Europe’s strategic engagement on EU health research and public funding, with a particular focus on the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI). He brings over ten years of experience across EU‑funded health research and innovation programmes, supporting MedTech, pharmaceutical, and academic stakeholders in the design, securing, and management of large‑scale collaborative projects under Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, IMI/IHI, and other Joint Undertakings.
Jeroen also serves as a member of the IHI Governing Board and the ERA4Health Strategic Advisory Board, contributing to strategic oversight and alignment of European health research priorities. He has provided strategic guidance to applicants for Belgian national funding schemes and regularly advises on public-private partnership models and funding strategy.
Prior to joining MedTech Europe, he held a Senior Manager role in public funding strategy and project leadership at a global consultancy firm, and earlier worked in neuroscience research across leading academic and non‑profit institutions.
CroíValve is a clinical stage medical device company focused on the development of a novel device for the treatment of a common heart valve disease, Tricuspid Regurgitation. Research, Development and Operations based in Ireland and Clinical, Regulatory and Marketing based in the United States. Prior to founding CroiValve, Lucy held cross functional leadership roles managing device development programs from concept to launch in Medtronic, ICON and Nypro. She holds a degree in mechanical engineering from University College Dublin and a PhD in biomedical engineering from University of Limerick.

Sinéad joined BioInnovate Ireland at University of Galway in March 2022 and took on the role of Programme Director in early 2025, working with participants, partners, and collaborators to strategically shape the Programme while leading the execution of its key priorities. Sinéad also leads the development of the University’s new Ian Quinn Centre, that aims to be the number one destination in Europe for health technology innovation.
Sinéad’s career to date includes significant research and innovation expertise as well as leadership experience. Sinéad led the Research funding of the Irish Cancer Society for seven years, managing multi-million-euro annual research funding awards, and leading research collaborations with national and international organisations. She has diverse startup experience having worked for Deerac Fluidics, a Trinity-based startup, and Relevium Medical, a University of Galway spin-out, led by Dr Alison Liddy. Sinéad joined the University of Galway’s Research & Innovation Office in 2015 and has been engaged in several roles supporting researchers and innovators across the University.
Sinéad holds a BSc Biotechnology from National University of Ireland, Galway, and a PhD from the Department of Surgery at University College Dublin. Outside of Health Tech, Sinéad is a keen sportsperson who received a University Sports Scholarship for field hockey and played hockey for Ireland at all Underage levels.
Daniel O’Mahony is a Partner at Seroba Life Sciences venture capital fund and brings a wealth of experience from pharma and medtech industry in product development, clinical trials, product commercialisation, strategic planning, licensing, corporate venturing, technology commercialisation and venture capital investment. He held senior appointments at Elan Corporation plc from 1994-2003, where he was involved in technology and product development and in corporate venturing. He established the Technology Transfer Office at NUI Galway in 2005. Daniel graduated with a Ph.D. from University College Cork, holds a business degree in technology management from the Smurfit Business School, University College Dublin and has held academic appointments in Ireland and USA. He currently sits on a number of boards including Perfuze, Loci Orthopaedics, Carballo Group Limited and ATXA Therapeutics. He previously sat on the boards of PQ Bypass (acquired by Endologix), Novate Medical (acquired by BTG), Apica Cardiovascular (acquired by Thoratec), Covagen (acquired by Cilag/Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of the Johnson & Johnson Group), Atlantic Therapeutics (assets acquired by Caldera Medical inc), Stokes Bio (acquired by Life Technologies), Straatum (acquired by Lam Research Corporation). Seroba is currently investing from its new fund, with a focus in pharma /biotech and medtech investments. He has published in several scientific journals and is co-inventor on numerous patent families.

David Townley is Executive Director of the €34M ARC Hub for HealthTech at the University of Galway, leading a national initiative to translate high potential health technologies into investable, market ready companies. As co founder and CTO of Neurent Medical, David led the invention, development, clinical & regulatory advancement of its platform. He serves as CEO of SelfSense Technologies and is an inventor on multiple patents across therapeutic areas.
