In June, Ibec's Diversity and Inclusion Day conference, under the theme of The Great DEI Reset, we took the opportunity to reflect on the future of DEI within business. In a world transformed by political shifts and corporate retrenchment, the conference examined the progress and failings of DEI practice thus far, and concluded that the DEI reset arrived at the perfect moment - offering renewed hope and focus on elevating business strategy to steer inclusion forward.
In this spirit of renewal, the Ibec Diversity Forum will be moving forward and looking at new approaches. One of these approaches will be to provide interactive training opportunities. We will continue to invite businesses and stakeholders across Ireland to collaborate and share actionable insights on inclusive leadership.
September's forum will feature an update from Ibec, and a Traveller Employment, Recruitment and Retention workshop, facilitated by representatives from the Irish Traveller Movement Ireland and Business in the Community Ireland.
Despite decades of progress, Irish Travellers remain one of the most marginalised communities in the country, facing staggering levels of unemployment. This dedicated workshop will shine a light on the structural barriers and biases that contribute to high unemployment rates among Travellers, and provide practical recruitment and retention strategies that employers can use to support Traveller Inclusion in the workplace.
