

Ms Melia, who has worked in the Agency for 29 years, is currently an Executive Director of Enterprise Ireland, which includes the role of Chief Client Officer. She will take up her new role as Chief Executive Officer in July.
Ms Melia, who graduated from UCD with a BSc and PhD in Chemistry, has held a number of senior leadership roles across the organisation throughout her career. She has worked extensively with client companies of varying scales from all sectors, including food, industrial and technology, and has also worked with the High Potential Start-Up (HPSU) Division, and the Research and Innovation team.

Denis Curran, Global Head of International Financial Services, Engineering & Green Economy and Emerging Business, IDA Ireland
Denis is a member of the Executive Leadership team at IDA Ireland and is Global Head of International Financial Services, Engineering & Green Economy and Emerging Business Division at IDA. Denis has held several senior leadership and management positions in IDA Ireland including Head of Regional Enterprise Development and Strategic Property Divisions; He was also head of strategic clients in IDA’s Technology and Global Business Services Divisions, working extensively with the leadership teams on international subsidiary strategy and transformation.

Sharon is a member of Ibec’s Executive Director Team holding the position of Executive Director, Membership & Sectors. With Ibec since 1996, she has held a number of other senior positions including Director of Member Services, Head of Sectors, Director of Irish MedTech; and Assistant Director, BioPharmachemical Ireland. She holds an BSc and MSc in Industrial Chemistry (UL) and was awarded a distinction in the Diploma in Company Direction by the Institute of Directors.

Richard Scannell heads up the public policy team for Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Ireland. AWS, which is the world’s largest cloud computing provider, has long partnered with Irish businesses, both domestically and overseas, on the development and operation of data centres. Richard leads AWS’s engagement with government, regulators, trade associations and other stakeholders. He is also a member of the AWS Leadership Team in Ireland. Richard previously worked as a civil servant with the Departments of Enterprise, Taoiseach and Foreign Affairs. He is a qualified solicitor, having trained with the leading Irish commercial firm A&L Goodbody. Apart from his legal qualifications, he holds a degree in Modern History from the University of Oxford.

He leads and coordinates the organisation’s activity across a range of business policy issues and public affairs activity. He represents Irish business on a number of fora at both national and EU level and is currently a member of the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council and a council member of the Foundation for Fiscal Studies. Fergal is a regular commentator on the economy and domestic and international policy issues.
Prior to joining Ibec in 2005, Fergal worked for 5 years as an Economic Consultant with Fitzpatrick Associates, where he delivered a large number of consultancy assignments for a range of public and private sector clients. He also worked as an economist with the Irish Dairy Board. Fergal holds his primary and masters degrees from the University of Limerick.
