With the new statutory sick pay scheme recently coming into effect and new obligations on employers around probation periods, our Employer Relations teams have been receiving a lot of queries from members on how to prepare for both. As a result, we are holding three one hourly drop-in clinics on Monday 30 January for members to meet with our ER Executive teams to discuss these and other employment issues.

The clinics will also offer an excellent opportunity to meet with HR peers and Ibec experts in an informal setting over light refreshments.

What to expect:
One-to-one consultations with an Ibec ER Executive, short intermittent presentations on statutory sick pay, employment contracts and probation as well as an opportunity to network. We will also have team members present to help you ensure you are getting the most out your membership and showcase the other Ibec supports available to you.

Background:
Statutory sick pay - From 1 January 2023, employees who are not already covered by a more favourable existing company sick pay scheme will have a statutory right to sick pay under the Statutory Sick Leave Act 2022.

Managing probation - The European Union (Transparent and Predictable Working Conditions) Regulations 2022, S.I. 686/2002 were signed into law on 16 December 2022. The Regulations amend a number of pieces of employment legislation which introduce new obligations for employers and limit the use of certain clauses in contracts of employment including the operation of probation clauses in the contracts of employment.
