The Supreme Court has issued their judgement in the Mallon case upholding High Court decision finding his retirement was legal

In Mallon v The Minister for Justice and others, the Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal brought by the applicant, Mr Mallon, against a decision of the High Court in a judicial review challenge to the mandatory retirement age of 70 imposed on sheriffs by the Court Officers Act 1945.

Catherine Toolan appointed Chair of Ibec Experience Economy policy committee

Ibec’s Experience Economy policy committee today announced the appointment of Catherine Toolan, Managing Director of Diageo Irish Brand Homes, as its new Chairperson during a meeting held at Shannon Airport. Irish Brand Homes includes Guinness Storehouse and Open Gate Brewery, Roe and Co and the Smithwick’s Experience in Kilkenny. Catherine takes over the role from Pat McCann, former CEO of Dalata Hotel Group, who stood as Chairperson for two and a half years.
