Salary threshold increase deferred for healthcare assistants from outside the EEA
There were substantial increases in the salary thresholds for permit applications and renewals submitted to the Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment (DETE) from 17 January.
In the only departure from the changes announced on 20 December 2023, DETE agreed to defer the increase in the minimum rate of pay required to be provided to healthcare assistants from outside the EEA.

Updated briefing note on foot of advice received from the Revenue Commissioners to Ibec. This relates to their earlier position on the Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme and redundancy. Specifically, the issue relates to their earlier requirement to remove an employee from the scheme once issued with formal notice of redundancy. However, following representations made by Ibec on behalf of members, we are pleased to see this clarification being issued and have prepared an updated briefing note.
