Display Screen Equipment Eyecare Requirements
The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work, (General Application) Regulations 2007, Chapter 5 of Part 2 (“the Regulations”) outline the requirements that must be adhered to in relation to Display Screen Equipment. Under the Regulations, the employer is required to ensure that the provision of an appropriate eye and eyesight test is made available to every employee who habitually uses display screen equipment as a significant part of his or her normal work. This includes when the employee is working remotely and in the current context, the employer should ensure that this requirement is being adhered to. It is also important to note that optical benefits do not include VDU eye and eyesight tests.
