Retail Ireland Monitor October 2023

Budget 2024 had some key positives, but it was also a missed opportunity. Tax cuts and cost of living measures should support consumer sentiment and retail spending as we approach Christmas. While the planned €250 million enterprise support package is welcome, we still don’t have the detail on how this will be allocated. A system that off-sets commercial rates costs will benefit some retailers, but the scheme should target support at those most affected by employment cost increases. Many businesses will not get the level of support required. We continue to engage with government on this issue.
