Retail Ireland Monitor June 2023

The economic outlook has improved. Retail sales trends have stabilised, with headline purchasing volumes recovering from last year’s slump. Inflationary pressures continue to ease across the economy, although some cost reductions will take time to work through supply chains. Consumer sentiment, while fragile, is on a slow upward trajectory, from a low of last September. Positive jobs figures and the strong public finances are making people a bit more upbeat. The focus will now turn to the Budget and what government will do with the significant recourses it has to hand.
