Retail Ireland Monitor April 2023

There are some positives and negatives in the latest set of retail and wider economic trends. Retail sales volumes have stabilised at levels similar to this time last year, although the value of these sales has increased significantly due to price inflation. Inflation remains stubbornly high, but this should drop in the coming months already we’ve seen sharp falls in other parts of Europe. This will hopefully translate into an improved consumer outlook, but we’ve still some way to go. The recovery in consumer sentiment has stalled over the last couple of months. Cost of living concerns continue to weigh heavily on Irish consumers.
