The Irish Medtech Map is a new interactive resource showcasing the global medtech hub that is Ireland.

The map visually demonstrates the breadth and depth of our internationally recognised sector. It details over 550 companies, including 14 of the world’s top 15 medtech companies, working in medtech, digital health, and related fields across the country. This map serves as a visual anchor for the sector’s success, reinforcing our vision and mission for Ireland to be the leading global destination for medtech advancement.

Diagnostic

A company that primarily develops diagnostic products, solutions, and/or instrumentation (in vitro, in vivo, or other).

Cardiovascular

A company that primarily produces vascular products, including cardiac, interventional, and neurovascular products.

Ophthalmic

A company that primarily produces ophthalmic products.

Orthopaedic

A company that primarily produces orthopaedic products.

Hospital and/or homecare products

A company that primarily produces hospital or homecare products. Examples include respiratory, gastroenterology, and wound care products, among others. These companies develop finished products for use in hospital or homecare settings.

Contract

Research, development, design, and/or manufacturing - A company that primarily operates as a contract manufacturer or design provider. These companies do not manufacture or design products for direct sale in the market.

Digital health

A company that primarily identifies as a digital health provider. Digital health involves the use of information and communication technologies to improve healthcare quality and outcomes. It encompasses eHealth, connected health, health informatics, telemedicine, and Health.

Service

A company that primarily provides services such as international shared services, international sales, medical packaging, sterilisation, validation, testing, software development, or research. This category does not include distributors.
