Understanding the Critical Raw Materials Act

Critical raw materials are of high economic importance for Europe and are at the heart of European industrial production. In recent times however, they have become highly vulnerable to disruptions stemming from geopolitical tensions – jeporadising supply chains and threatening to derail key EU Green Deal objectives. The Critical Raw Materials Act (CRM Act) will ensure EU access to a secure and sustainable supply of critical and strategic raw materials going forward, which will be essential in enabling Europe to meet its 2030 climate and digital objectives.
