Ibec Networks Q1: The year so far

April 03, 2024

After a busy first quarter of the year, it’s time to reflect on what has been accomplished by Team Ibec Networks and how we will continue to achieve for you in the coming months.

Webinars, in-person events and report launches

For Ibec Networks, January began with the launch of our For You to Share webinar series, four short webinars on setting you and your colleagues up for success in 2024. These webinars featured expert advice on goal setting, personal finance, networking and personal branding. The engagement was phenomenal, it was a successful start to the new year for our team and our members who used the content for themselves and their teams! The webinar series is still available to view on our Networks homepage. This series was followed by a developmental webinar on the science behind Mental Wellbeing with Fitvision. We had very positive feedback on our speaker Kelly Mangan, who gave tips and tools for success.

In February, Ibec in partnership with the Department of Transport hosted the launch of the Logistics and Supply Chain Skills Week, featuring expert industry speakers as well as Minister Jack Chambers. This in person event had full attendance and excellent cross sectoral engagement.

More recently in March we also launched a new report on the experience economy. The economic contribution of our travel, hospitality and supply chain members is captured in this report, highlighting the crucial importance of these businesses and sectors nationally. Ibec recommendations in the report include:

  • Implementing a Competitiveness Charter to limit annual increases in labour market costs and reduce regulatory burdens on businesses.
  • Introducing a PRSI rebate for companies most affected by labour costs, with specific measures to support low-earning workers.
  • Conducting a Future Skills Report to assess skills demands in the Experience Economy and ensure a sufficient supply of skills to support growth.

To view all findings and recommendations, the report is available now on our website.

Engage: Thought leadership and knowledge sharing

Our monthly member newsletter has featured insights and events from Ibec colleagues, members and thought leaders who are experts in their fields. We are proud to feature articles from such a wide range of contributors, from charities to HR experts. Upcoming events

We have no intention of slowing down for Q2. Ibec Networks is busy organising our free, nationwide workshops for members on intersectionality in diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We recently published an article on this topic. If you are interested in learning more from experts in diversity and as well as hearing from Ibec’s ER division to review equality legislation and some recent case law, you can book your place here:

23 April- Dublin: Book here

24 April- Portlaoise: Book here

30 April- Waterford: Book here

None of these events and publications would be possible without the insight and engagement of you, the member. So, get involved with a network, write that article and get the most out of your Ibec membership!
