The Mission Behind the Name

The Ronald McDonald House is situated on the grounds of Children's Health Ireland at Crumlin (formerly Our Lady's Children's Hospital) in Dublin. While we cannot change the reality of a child's illness or the battle they face, our mission at The Ronald McDonald House is to ensure that families face these challenges together. Our facilities, including family bedrooms, home-cooked meals, parking, and laundry services, aim to ease the practical and financial burdens on parents, enabling them to focus on what truly matters - FAMILY.

We currently accommodate 20 families nightly in our Crumlin location; however, we are thrilled about the upcoming development of our new 52-bedroom facility at the New Children's Hospital, with ground-breaking scheduled for this February.

Introducing the RMHC Ireland Corporate Cooking for Families Programme

In our relentless pursuit of fostering community engagement and making a meaningful impact, we've developed a unique initiative that seamlessly blends corporate volunteering, team building, and philanthropy: the RMHC Ireland Corporate Cooking for Families Programme.

The Heart Behind the Program

At the core of this initiative lies a deep understanding of the challenges faced by families with sick children. The emotional and physical toll of caring for a child undergoing medical treatment can be overwhelming. Often, parents find themselves torn between meeting the practical needs of daily life—such as cooking meals—and spending precious moments with their ailing child.

Our Cooking for Families Programme aims to provide a solution that goes beyond traditional volunteerism. By partnering with us, your company can contribute to creating a supportive environment for these families, allowing them the gift of time and relief.

How Does It Work?

When your team participates in the Cooking for Families Programme, they get the chance to step into the shoes of these parents. Instead of spending their time shopping for ingredients and preparing meals, they will be cooking wholesome and comforting dishes for families staying at The Ronald McDonald House.

The Impact: Beyond the Kitchen

  • Families Reconnect: By taking on the responsibility of cooking, your team enables parents to focus solely on their child, fostering a conducive environment for healing and bonding.
  • Team Building: The programme is designed to enhance teamwork and camaraderie within your organization. Working together to prepare meals creates a shared experience that goes beyond the typical office setting.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility: Your company's involvement in the Cooking for Families Programme showcases a commitment to social responsibility, making a tangible impact on the community where your employees live and work.

Why Choose the Cooking for Families Programme?

  • Meaningful Impact: Few volunteering initiatives provide such a direct and profound impact on the lives of those in need. Your team will witness the positive outcomes of their efforts immediately.
  • Tailored for Corporate Teams: We understand the demands of corporate life. That's why our programme is designed to seamlessly integrate into your team's schedule, providing a structured and rewarding experience.
  • Flexible Options: Whether your team is large or small, the Cooking for Families Programme can be customized to suit your company's preferences and availability.

What the Cooking for Programme means to our corporate volunteers….

RMHC Ireland's dedication to supporting families during their difficult journeys is commendable, and we are proud to be associated with an organization that goes above and beyond to make a positive impact. Cooking for Families has become a cherished initiative for our company, fostering a sense of purpose and shared responsibility among our staff while contributing to the well-being of those in need.
