The latest CEO Update from Danny McCoy to Ibec membership.

Dear member,

Ibec has a packed programme of activity and advocacy for the year ahead.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement, Ibec is launching a new campaign - ‘For Peace + Prosperity’ - to demonstrate the role of peace and stability in supporting economic prosperity experienced over recent decades. Through this campaign, we hope to facilitate a reflective, thoughtful and inclusive conversation on the positive impact that the Agreement has had on the island of Ireland.

At the launch on Wednesday next week, we will be joined by:

  • Lisa McGee, Creator of Channel 4’s Derry Girls
  • Tanya Harrington, Chief Regulatory Officer, An Post
  • James Doherty, Irish Whiskey Association Chair & Managing Director of Sliabh Liag

The panellists will bring to life the economic benefits of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement and how it has made the island a more attractive place to live and work, a better place to invest, fostered growth in all island trade and integrated infrastructure in key areas.Ibec will also be launching a new report on the economic and social benefits of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement. You can register for the event here.

Later, in February in partnership with Focus Ireland, Ibec will be hosting a discussion on ‘The Irish housing crisis and its impact on business and society’. The event will examine the impact of the housing crisis on businesses and possible solutions. Dave Kirwan, MD at Bord Gais Energy and Lisa Kealy, Wealth and Asset Management Lead at EY will share insights into what they have done to help address homelessness and lessons that other businesses can learn from their work. It will take place in our Dublin office. You can register for the event here.
