CEO Update: Ibec response to Covid announcement from Government

November 16, 2021

Latest CEO Update to Ibec membership

Dear member,

The announcement from Government today of a partial return of some Covid restrictions is disappointing for many businesses across Ireland.

With Government’s decision made, we must continue to play our part in supporting the suppression of rising Covid figures across the country. Since the beginning of the Covid pandemic, business has worked extensively with Government in ensuring full compliance with the Work Safely Protocol. This is reflected most discernibly through the fact that the majority of offices are working at reduced capacity. In line with today’s announcement from Government, business will continue to fully support the Work Safely protocols.

Business remains concerned that the last period of full remote working was exceptionally difficult for many individuals working at home in cramped and unsuitable working conditions. For others, the isolation of full remote working had an impact on overall mental health and well-being. Ibec is engaging with Government to support a broad return to remote working for this period while ensuring that there is guidance that provides for those workers for whom it is necessary to work from the office to avail of those facilities.

In addition, Ibec will work closely with Government to ensure that the most impacted sectors are provided with the necessary supports to ensure their long-term viability.

If you have any queries regarding this evening’s announcement, please get in touch or contact your KAM manager here at Ibec. We are here to support.

Regards,
