Diageo Launches Littleconnell Brewery in Co. Kildare

May 12, 2026

Taoiseach Micheál Martin TD and Diageo CEO, Sir Dave Lewis, were on hand to open the new Littleconnell Brewery in Newbridge, Co. Kildare on Monday 11 May 2026. Representing an investment of almost €300 million, the project marks a major milestone in Diageo’s near €1 billion capital investment programme in Ireland between 2020 and 2029.

The brewery will act as a strategic hub for Diageo’s global network. It will produce a range of iconic ales and lagers, including Rockshore, Harp, Smithwick’s, and Kilkenny, alongside licensed brands such as Carlsberg, for both domestic and international markets.

Additionally, Diageo has confirmed plans for an additional €400 million investment to develop a second facility at the site. Known as Brewery 2, work is due to begin in 2026 and will be dedicated to the production of Guinness and Guinness 0.0. This expansion will more than double the total site capacity to support the global demand for the Guinness family of brands.

Some key features of the new brewery:

  • Renewable Energy: The site is powered by 100% renewable electricity.
  • Carbon Reduction: Advanced technology avoids 15,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
  • Regional Impact: Creation of 50+ permanent, highly skilled roles in Co. Kildare.
  • Global Export Hub: Strengthens Ireland's role in Diageo’s global beer supply and export network.
