Kilbeggan® single grain Irish Whiskey officially renamed as Kilbeggan® Triple Cask
Beam Suntory’s Kilbeggan® Single Grain has officially been renamed as Kilbeggan® Triple Cask Irish Whiskey; effective globally as of February 2022. The premium liquid and proof remain the same, but the new name more simply reflects what is in the bottle – an authentic Irish whiskey that is matured in three different cask types: American Oak, Sherry and Bourbon. This already beloved whiskey will continue to deliver a complex, rich flavour experience that Kilbeggan aficionados have come to expect from Ireland’s oldest licensed distillery. As well as the renaming, Kilbeggan Triple Cask has also redesigned its label with an upgraded design; all three different casks are called out on the new label, featuring a rich blue colouring with premium copper foiling highlights.
“Listening to both our fans and newcomers to the Irish whiskey category we have decided to update the naming to do the complex liquid and flavour profile justice, informing transparency about the different casks used during the maturation process” says Fabian Fischer, Global Marketing Manager Irish Whiskey at Beam Suntory.
This innovative liquid is matured in three different cask types - American Virgin Oak, Pedro Ximénez Sherry and Ex-Bourbon Casks. This combination creates a rich and complex flavour profile. Spiciness and tannins come from the American Virgin Oak, the fruitiness and sweetness of red berries and jellied fruits from the Pedro Ximénez Sherry and biscuit vanilla notes from the Ex-Bourbon Casks.
Established in 1757, Kilbeggan remains a true original Irish whiskey with a long and illustrious heritage, as Ireland’s oldest licensed distillery. Kilbeggan’s whiskeys are made of soft grain whiskey blended with double distilled malt whiskey. This double distillation process preserves more of its rich flavours, resulting in a flavour profile with more character while still being an approachable Irish Whiskey.
