CEO Update: President Biden’s Ireland visit, for Peace + Prosperity London event, National Workplace Wellbeing Day and the Regional Insights Series 2023

April 21, 2023

Dear member,

During US President Joe Biden’s historic visit to Ireland last week, Ibec continued to highlight the priorities of Irish business with key US stakeholders. I was honoured to be invited to Áras an Uachtaráin by President Michael D. Higgins to meet President Joe Biden alongside a small group of representatives of Irish civil society. The invitation was a acknowledgement of the pivotal role that Ibec plays in Irish social and public life.

Continuing to build international connections, on the 27th of April the Embassy of Ireland in London will host an event as part of Ibec’s for Peace + Prosperity campaign marking the 25th anniversary of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement (B/GFA). The event will be opened by Irish Ambassador to the UK, Martin Fraser. Our speakers and panellists embody the strong commercial ties between Ireland and the UK, and the discussion will offer a great opportunity to identify further opportunities to grow this critical economic ecosystem. If you wish to attend the event please register your interest here so that the Embassy may extend an invitation.

Ibec is proud to be hosting National Workplace Wellbeing Day for the 9th year in a row on Friday 28th April. National Workplace Wellbeing Day intends to celebrate wellbeing in the workplace, educate stakeholders and help employers evolve and excel in their wellbeing strategies. On the day, we ask employers to highlight on social media, and directly to their staff, the range of activities that they have on offer that benefit their employees’ social, mental, and physical wellbeing. I encourage you to sign up today, and showcase your organisation’s activities using #WorkWell23.

Finally, we are gearing up for Ibec’s Regional Insights Series 2023 taking place in Limerick, Galway, Kilkenny, Donegal, Cork and Dublin throughout May. The Executive Director Team and I look forward to meeting with members across the country, exploring new ways to drive regenerative growth in the regions. Please do register today to secure your place, as spaces are limited.

As always, if you have any queries please get in touch.

Regards,

Danny McCoy
