Latest CEO Update on engagements

November 20, 2020

Dear member,

This week I made numerous media interventions following the issuing of Ibec’s letter to An Taoiseach in which I set out a number of priorities on the need to ease Covid-19 restrictions and the manner in which this should be done.

On Wednesday, I met with An Tánaiste Leo Varadkar at the Labour Employer Economic Forum (LEEF) sub-group on Enterprise and Employment, to discuss a range of major employer issues including statutory sick pay, a national remote working strategy and the proposed European Directive on adequate minimum wages.  I also addressed the Social Justice Ireland conference setting out the urgent need for Social Dialogue in Ireland to effectively mediate the major challenges that lie ahead for business, the workforce and the communities they serve.

There are many milestones and trends that will challenge us now and in the future of which we need to create greater awareness and prepare for. On these long-term issues and immediacy, Ibec is currently gathering insights from the CEOs of our membership on a range of business issues. I would very much appreciate your engagement on this survey as it informs our priorities, communications, engagement and activities in the months ahead and will also provide you with important insight and analysis from across the Irish business model. Our research team have reached out to you and will issue a reminder next week.

In the weeks ahead we have a very busy programme of briefings, policy consultations and sector councils as well as regional and EU outreach on the issues central to business today and we look forward to continuing this virtual engagement with you.

Please let me know if you have any feedback, it is always good to hear from you.

Have a good weekend,

Danny McCoy,

CEO,

Ibec
