XIN Gin wins best in Ireland at the Gin Guide Awards

May 05, 2022

Ahascragh Distillery is delighted to announce Xin Gin has won ‘Best in Ireland’ at The Gin Guide Awards.

The Gin Guide Awards is the annual and global celebration of exceptional spirits in the industry. With hundreds of entries from over 30 countries, it is an incredible achievement for Galway’s Xin Gin to be named Best in Ireland. The announcement follows recent wins for Xin Gin at the World Gin Awards and International Wine and Spirits Competition.

Michelle McAllister, Xin Gin’s creator said “I’m delighted that Xin Gin has picked up another prestigious award. This year saw the highest entries from Ireland to The Gin Guide Awards, so it is a particularly special achievement for us. The taste and design of Xin Gin represents our two homes – Asia and Ireland. It was made with so much heart and passion and we’re really proud of what we have created.”

Xin’s creators, Michelle and Gareth McAllister, have Irish blood, and Asian hearts. After spending many years in Asia, they wanted to merge what they loved about their two homes. ‘Xin’ (pronounced shin) means ‘heart’ or ‘feelings’ in Mandarin. The design of the bottle, with ancient celtic swirls contrasted with a modern eastern aesthetic reflects the liquid inside – a perfect balance of European and Oriental botanicals. The cross shaped label represents a promise to stay connected and a crossing point of the two cultures.

Ahascragh Distillers’ Xin Gin is a juniper-led dry gin with fresh citrus notes of orange zest and lemongrass held by an earthy, herbaceous undertone. The exotic Asian fruit, Persimmon adds a sweet honey flavour and the cinnamon brings a touch of spice. Xin Gin is silky smooth with a subtle kick.

Xin Gin is available now in McCambridge’s of Galway, Celtic Whiskey Shop, IrishMalts, Next Door Off Licenses and all good regional stockists.
