Technology Ireland's response to the European Commission

January 01, 0001

Please read below the Technology Ireland’s response to the European Commission’s exploratory consultation on the future of the connectivity sector and its infrastructure.

Technology Ireland believes that connectivity is crucial to delivering the advantages of the free and open internet to European consumers and businesses. Potential network fees would be a retrograde step. There is currently a successful, positive symbiotic relationship that shows no market failure and therefore no need for regulatory interference. Technology Ireland believes there is no investment gap in Ireland and therefore a pan Europe approach does not fit. We do not see how a separate EU-wide fund to finance universal service would add value above the current regime.
