Technology Ireland Strategy 2022-2026

Technology Ireland, the Ibec group that represents the technology industry, has today launched its four-year strategy for the sector. The strategy outlines the key recommendations for Government and highlights the priority areas that need to be addressed by policymakers, public sector institutions and industry. The sector has placed talent as its number one priority pillar for the forthcoming strategy.

Commenting on the new strategy Una Fitzpatrick, Director of Technology Ireland said: “Technology Ireland believes that the priorities outlined in this strategy, are central to achieving our vision of securing Ireland’s place as a global technology powerhouse and maintaining that place for the years ahead. This strategy is a roadmap to our continued resilience and if supported will maintain the world-leading status of the technology industry in Ireland and create abundant opportunities.”

Lorna Martyn, Ireland Regional Chair and SVP Technology, Fidelity Investments, and Chair of Technology Ireland, said: “Technology is omnipresent in our lives and talent is the lifeblood of the technology industry.  A constant pipeline of talent is crucial for the continued evolution of our indigenous and multinational companies, and all stakeholders must commit to investment in attracting, developing and retaining talent to optimise the future of society and our industry.”

Ireland has a unique position as the EU HQ for many international technology organisations. Technology Ireland’s ambition is for Ireland to be Europe’s regulatory hub, shaping clear, evidence-based regulation at home which upholds the integrity of the Digital Single Market. Ireland can enhance its influence globally by working with likeminded countries to design rules that unlock, rather than hold back, the innovations of tomorrow.

Other priority pillars for the strategy include Champion the sector; Facilitate ESG leadership; Support SMEs and entrepreneurs.
