REMINDER! Digital Euro Pilot Programme: Call for participants
The European Central Bank (ECB) is calling for an expression of interest inviting e-commerce and mobile commerce merchants to take part in a pilot, which is due to start in the second half of 2027. Selected merchants will test the acceptance of a beta version of the digital euro in a controlled environment, at the ECB and participating euro area national central banks. By enabling payments for goods and services in online and mobile checkout environments, participating merchants will gain first-hand experience of how the digital euro could fit into existing payment ecosystems. This call targets e-commerce and mobile commerce merchants that can operate in at least two countries participating in the pilot.
More information can be found on the ECB’s website including:
Interested merchants are invited to submit their applications by 17:00 CET on 27 October 2026.
More information on the pilot can be found on the dedicated webpage and in the FAQ, which will be updated regularly throughout the application window.
